How to make your round enjoyable for you and everyone else
Here are some helpful hints for new members (and a reminder for old members) on how to keep your group moving.
In order for everyone to enjoy their round of golf (including other players on the golf course), we would ask all players to stay in touch with the group in front.
Always remember your place in the field is directly behind the group in front NOT directly in front of the group behind.
If you are falling a hole behind the group in front here are some helpful hints that most golfers already know, which if adhered to will keep the field moving.
Play ready Golf – When standing on the tee whoever is ready, hits first irrespective of who has the honour.
Keep an eye on Playing Partners Shots – This will help in finding lost balls and actually knowing where they cross the line of a hazard and assist in finding stray balls.
Don’t stop to Mark Cards – Mark cards whilst on the tee taking your tee shots or walking to your ball.
Walk Directly to Your Ball – Each player should walk directly to their ball and be ready to play the next shot.
Help Out in Bunkers – If you are falling behind be prepared to help out and rake bunkers for the player taking the shot.
Lining up Your Putt – Line up your putt whilst the other players are putting.
Pick Up When You Can’t Score – This is a real common cause of slow play amongst new golfers. When playing Stableford or Par and you can’t score then pick up and move on, don’t play out the hole.
Other hints to remember out on the course are once you are on the green move your bag or buggy to the rear of the green towards the next hole.
It is everyone in the group responsibility to keep an eye on the speed and encourage everyone to speed up to catch the group in front.
